Berbicara mengenai posisi, adverb dapat ditempatkan di awal, di tengah, alias di akhir kalimat.
1. Di awal kalimat alias klausa
Adverb yang dapat ditempatkan di awal kalimat alias klausa merupakan conjunction adverb and adverb of time. Berikut merupakan contoh-contoh kalimatnya.
Conjunction adverb:
I did not care for her tone. However, I let it go.
I began to dislike my course within months having signed up for it. Consequently, I never did well.
Adverb of time:
Yesterday she was very busy, which is why she was unable to meet me.
Tomorrow I am leaving for New York.
2. Di tengah kalimat
Penempatan adverb di tengah kaliwat biasanya seusai kata kerja bantu (lihat 4 tipe kata kerja bantu).

3. Di akhir kalimat alias klausa
